Afehyia Pa!

A Christmas greeting in Twi and another baptism is scheduled.

Tracy looked up the Twi greeting. She found that it is pronounced “Ah-fee-shi-ah pa” and it means Merry Christmas! The literal meaning is “The year meets us well,” and it is also said at New Years. She found the info at a site called Ghana I Love You on tumblr.

The photo above is a frame from a video we grabbed from Facebook. We grabbed two. You can see them on this post.

Subject: Afehyia Pa!

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had great weeks! Mine was great! And I hope this week is even better for everyone as we celebrate Christmas. Afehyia Pa is a Christmas greeting in Twi which is what they speak where I am currently located, and that might be how it is spelled. Elder Iyip and I have a baptismal service this Saturday for Frank, which should be great! I hope you all have been feeling the spirit of Christmas and the love of Christ that comes with it. I know that if we try to share that love with others that it will fill us with joy as well.

1 John 4:7-11
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

I know that God sent his only begotten Son, even Christ into this world to help us.

Infant Holy, Infant Lowly– I suggest giving it a listen by BYU Vocal Point

Infant holy, infant lowly
For His bed a cattle stall
Oxen lowing, little knowing
Christ, the babe is Lord of all

Swift are winging, angels singing
Noels ringing, tidings bringing
Christ, the babe is Lord of all

Flocks were sleeping, shepherds keeping
Vigil till the morning new
Saw the glory, heard the story
Tidings of a gospel true

Thus rejoicing, free from sorrow
Praises voicing greet the morrow
Christ, the babe was born for you
Christ, the babe was born for you

Stars were gleaming, shepherds dreaming
Oh, the night was dark and chill
Angels’ story, manger glory
Shepherds heard it on the hill

Ah, that singing, hear it ringing
Earthward winging, praises bringing
Christ, the babe was born for you
Christ, the babe was born for you
Christ, the babe was born for you

I love you all and hope you all have a great week and a very merry Christmas!
