Week Two Down
|It was a pretty good week in Jamestown. Adjusting to a new culture is taking time, as expected, but it is happening. He is showing great patience. It helps that the Ghanaians are so welcoming and loving of the missionaries. He was even happy to be rained on.
He is quickly loving the people, and they are loving him. We know that because he says as much, but also in the way he describes the convert he baptized (Agnese) and the people he is serving!
As of our first contact with Elder Hall when he entered the field last week, we were a bit disappointed that given the resources available we might not get any photos from him while he is in his current area. But Wednesday the emails came pouring in with a few photos in each. He was able to send a total of 24 including the one above! We were very excited to see them.
Elder Hall’s email:
Hello everyone!
This week was pretty good! We taught 39 lessons and we had a baptism, I got to baptize our dear sister Agnese. She’s great, and her two eldest daughters are now taking the lessons. They are very smart and are learning very quickly. Jamestown is crazy but awesome. I had pizza on Tuesday, it was okay but it was still pizza so i take what i can get! Also on Thursday we had a Zone Conference, Elder Johnson in my apartment is going home in four weeks and this was his third Zone Conference and I had one in my second week so lucky me! I am adjusting more and more daily. The loving people make it so much easier here. I’m trying to love everyone, and I don’t think it would hurt for all of us to try it.
I like this.
2 Nephi 31:19-2119 And now, my beloved brethren, after ye have gotten into this strait and narrow path, I would ask if all is done? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for ye have not come thus far save it were by the word of Christ with unshaken faith in him, relying wholly upon the merits of him who is mighty to save.
20 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.
21 And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen.
P.S. It rained for the first time this week, i was really dirty afterwards. Great experience 😀
This is not his shirt. 🙂
